Hannah Lucy Williams – Time Can Change Your Life
Maurice Lacroix is proud to welcome the sprinter Hannah Lucy Williams to the ML Crew, a group of talented individuals from around the world. Hannah Lucy, British 200m Champion, combines her mental focus and lightning speed to secure podium glory.
From a very young age, running 200 and 400m races has been more than a sport for Hannah Lucy; it is her passion. Aged 22, she has already won three bronze medals and is currently the British 200m Champion. All of the hours spent training, the strict diet and the early nights would be for nothing if she was unable to convert this commitment to track success. Everything is about the start, there are no second chances. While waiting for the start, she is determined, focused and her state of mind never wavers. Timing is vital. She is like a coiled spring, ready to unleash latent energy.
“When you are doing 200m, you literally just run as fast as you can. However, 400m is different because you have to conserve energy at certain points of the race. The first 100m you run fast, then, while still sprinting, you sort of ‘chill, relax’, adopting a calmer rhythm before finally powering towards the line and pushing through the pain of lactic acid.” Timing and rhythm are of vital importance.
What does time mean to Hannah Lucy? “In terms of athletics, time can change your life. However, I also think of time in a broader sense. I have a big fear of time or life going too quickly. Time is so precious.”
Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix stated, “Hannah Lucy has already enjoyed much success, but she clearly has much more potential. She is ambitious, motivated and nothing distracts her from winning. These are qualities that we look for when selecting members for the ML Crew.”
What is Hannah Lucy’s dream? “To win a medal in an Olympic final. However, before this, my objective is to race indoors and set a new PB (personal best).”
