BASELWORLD 2017: PONTOS - Style

The name Pontos has always been a byword for style, attracting individuals who appreciate design and flair. Over the last 20 years, Pontos has subtly evolved, continuously improved and become, unquestionably, an emblematic model for Maurice Lacroix.

A key aspect of the Pontos collection is the design characteristics shared with each model, including since 2016 an enhanced case design delivering improved aesthetics, feel and wearer comfort. The curving lugs feature a stepped profile adding to the allure of the case. The crown protectors fuse with the caseband more harmoniously, extending outwards to the sunbrushed sides of the lugs. Wherever inquisitive fingers roam, they are greeted with superior tactility. The finish of each element has been upgraded in 2016, conferring a sumptuous feel to each Pontos model. There is an increased interplay of polished and brushed surfaces, heightening the sense of luxury. The double folding clasp with push buttons was a further enhancement, according a superior fit and proffering greater wearer comfort.

Each Pontos model is equipped with a high quality, automatic mechanical movement, delivering precision and reliability while harnessing fine Swiss craftsmanship. Indeed, the current Pontos Collection is so emblematic of Maurice Lacroix's brand values that the brand's 'M' logo adopts greater prominence on the dial, calf leather strap and crown.

Upholding this reputation, Maurice Lacroix is pleased to unveil a new range of straps for its Pontos Chronograph and Pontos Day Date models, complementing its existing collection of strap options.

Vibrant Orange & Bold Blue

When it comes to measuring elapsed time intervals, the Pontos Chronograph fulfils this role admirably. Two large chronograph registers are positioned at 6 o’clock and noon, while a small seconds display resides at 9 o’clock. A date display completes the inventory of functions. The water resistance has been enhanced to 10ATM.

The brown-orange Top-Leather strap is the ideal accompaniment to the Pontos Chronograph. This strap features vegetable tanning and aniline dying. The result is a vibrant brown-orange hue, featuring a gentle grain and a subtly shining surface. Paired with a striking blue dial, this combination delivers a wonderfully stylish statement.

Mellow Browns & Hazelnut Tones

In some areas of life, we can be confronted with too much information. This is not the case with the Pontos Day Date which presents the day and date via two apertures, imparting information in a clear, simple to understand format. Again, the water resistance of this timepiece has been increased to 10ATM.

For those customers seeking a vintage appearance for their Pontos Day Date, the ‘Origin gold-brown’ leather evinces a classical air. This strap is crafted of the finest Italian calf leather and processed according to traditional methods. Another option is the ‘Juchtenleder’ strap, made of smooth, semi-matte leather with hazelnut tones and delightful patination. It provides a stylish accompaniment to the Pontos Day-Date.

Sleek Black & Silver Moments

In addition, the Pontos Chronograph and Pontos Day Date models are available with the new embossed calf leather strap, which embraces modernity with its eye-catching grid motif and fascinating texture. Alternatively, for those would-be wearers seeking a retro nod to La Dolce Vita, Milanese bracelets are also available.
